Sunset Shift

I got the SolarSkin installed today.

Not the cheap panels either. Actual embedded collector mesh, gold-thread contacts under the dermis, whole thing. It felt weird at first. Like standing in sunlight with a fever.

But hey. It works.

No more waiting in line at the district chargers. No more rationing my eye modules because the building grid browns out every other night. I stood on the roof for maybe twenty minutes and watched my battery meter crawl up.

Just stood there. Me, the pigeons, and the smog.

Mara says I look “sunburnt in a very expensive way.” She’s jealous. She still has that old Internal Battery that leaks charge whenever she runs.

I told her to get SolarSkin.

She said she likes sleeping indoors.

Fair.
