Where Items Go
Where Items Go
Each kind of memory is good at something, and the network puts items where they fit best.

Disk packs hold many kinds of item, so a new kind of item goes there first. Magnetic tape holds only two kinds, but huge amounts of them: the tape drive moves your biggest stocks (16 stacks or more) onto its reel, a little at a time, and moves them back off once they run low. Tape only takes a new kind of item itself when nothing else has room. (A server can turn this archiving off in its settings.)

Every cell can be marked with a priority in its drive's screen: click the number under it to raise it, or right-click to lower it. Higher priority cells are filled first and emptied last, and the tape drive never takes items from a cell marked higher than its reel.
