# Cobblemon Cold Login Fix

A tiny client-side NeoForge compatibility mod for **Minecraft 1.21.1** and **Cobblemon 1.8.1+1.21.1**.

## What it fixes
On a fresh client login after a server restart, Cobblemon 1.8.1 can disconnect while synchronizing Pokemon interactions with errors such as:

```text
Failed to deserialize {"items":"#c:tools/brush"}
Not a json array: "#c:tools/brush"
```

The same early-login codec failure can also affect ordinary item IDs such as:

```text
{"items":"minecraft:bucket"}
```

Cobblemon's own legacy item-condition adapter already knows how to deserialize both primitive item IDs and `#tag` IDs correctly. This mod only intercepts the exact broken one-field object form `{"items":"..."}` when the value is a JSON string, then routes that string through Cobblemon's existing primitive-string path.

## Scope and safety
- Client-side only.
- No custom networking.
- Does not remove brushing or other Pokemon interactions.
- Does not replace item requirements or bypass ownership checks.
- Does not modify complex ItemPredicate objects.
- Intended specifically for Cobblemon `1.8.1+1.21.1`.

## Tested environment
- Minecraft 1.21.1
- NeoForge 21.1.249
- Java 21
- Cobblemon 1.8.1+1.21.1

Remove this compatibility mod after upgrading to a Cobblemon release that fixes the underlying early-login predicate sync issue upstream.
