BLOCKFORGED — PLAYER GUIDE
Version 0.1.0 | Minecraft Java 26.2 | NeoForge
Author: Kiyoshibara

1. START HERE

Blockforged adds material-based equipment with different mining, combat and
utility traits. Progress from familiar materials to Starforged, Resonant and
Dragonforged equipment. The mod includes swords, pickaxes, axes, shovels,
hoes, armor, Mining Upgrades and the Starforged Hammer.

Requirements: Minecraft Java 26.2, NeoForge 26.2.0.67 or newer for that
Minecraft version, and Java 25 or newer. Place the mod JAR in the instance's
mods folder. Multiplayer requires Blockforged on the server and clients.

JEI is optional. Its Minecraft 26.2 NeoForge version provides recipes, uses,
and information pages; the integration was checked with JEI 30.29.0.199.
By default, hover an item and press R for recipes or U for uses. Key bindings
can be changed in Controls. Recipe changes made by a modpack or datapack may
differ from this guide; use the recipes available in your running game.

2. CHOOSING EQUIPMENT AND READING TRAITS

Hold Shift over an equipment tooltip to read its material traits. A material
trait comes with the equipment; there is no separate general-purpose trait
module to install. Some armor bonuses apply per piece, while others require
a full matching set in the correct armor slots.

Examples:
- Glowstone equipment provides light. Its crafting recipes use Glowstone
  BLOCKS, not Glowstone Dust.
- Emerald tools and armor can improve villager discounts.
- Prismarine tools help underwater; a full armor set provides Water Breathing.
- Blaze mining tools automatically smelt furnace-compatible drops. Their
Fortune interaction is supported, while Silk Touch is disabled for them.
- Obsidian equipment trades mobility for strength or protection; inspect its
  tooltip before choosing it.
- Resonant equipment uses adaptation traits. Tool and full-armor-set effects
are different; check the matching tooltip for their conditions.

A higher Mining Upgrade does not replace your tool's original material trait.
Broken pieces do not contribute active equipment bonuses or a usable set.

3. MINING UPGRADES — ANVIL

Put a Blockforged mining tool in the left input slot and a Mining Upgrade in
the right slot. Take the result to apply it. One upgrade item is consumed.
Pickaxes, axes, shovels, hoes and the Starforged Hammer are supported.

The target tier must be higher than the tool's current tier. You may skip
intermediate tiers when applying a higher upgrade. Same-tier upgrades and
downgrades are not applied.

Anvil costs, in experience LEVELS:
- Iron: 4
- Diamond: 8
- Netherite: 12
- Starforged: 16
- Resonant: 24
- Dragonforged: 32

These upgrades change the harvest tier, which determines the required block
levels the tool can harvest. They preserve mining speed, attack stats,
durability, enchantments, name and material traits. They do not transform a
lower-material tool into an unbreakable endgame tool.

The practical difference between tiers above Netherite depends on blocks
that require those tiers. The stock mod's higher-tier requirement tags are
empty; upgrading does not create new ores or higher-tier blocks by itself.

4. ENDGAME ARMOR — SMITHING TABLE

Use a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template for each of these upgrades:

Netherite armor + Starforged Crystal -> Starforged armor
Starforged armor + Resonant Core -> Resonant armor
Resonant armor + Dragonforged Core -> Dragonforged armor

Choose the same piece type: a helmet becomes a helmet, a chestplate becomes
a chestplate, and likewise for leggings and boots. Put the template in the
template slot, the existing armor in the base slot, and the listed material
in the addition slot. These are Smithing Table operations, not anvil recipes.

All three endgame equipment families are unbreakable. Their armor pieces
provide their own stats and traits; matching full sets can provide additional
bonuses. Mixed sets do not satisfy a full matching-set requirement.

In JEI, the 12 armor creation recipes appear before trims in the Smithing
category. Each endgame armor piece also has an information page explaining
its base armor, template and addition. Trim recipes decorate an existing
piece; they do not create the next equipment tier.

5. STARFORGED HAMMER

Craft the Hammer Head with a Starforged Crystal in the center and one
Obsidian block in each of the eight surrounding crafting slots.

Craft the Hammer using the center column: Hammer Head at the top, a Stick in
the middle and a Stick at the bottom. The head is a crafting item.

The Hammer is unbreakable and has the Starforged Pickaxe's base tool stats.
Normal mining breaks the target and eligible neighbors in a 3x3 plane:
- Top or bottom face: a horizontal layer.
- Side face: a vertical layer aligned with that face.

The outline previews the area. Sneak to mine only the target block; the extra
outlines disappear. Your sneak state when the center block actually breaks
determines whether the extra blocks are mined.

Fortune, Silk Touch and experience follow normal player mining for each
eligible block. Unbreakable, unharvestable and protected blocks are skipped,
as are fluids. Server-specific protection permissions may not be known by
the client outline. The Hammer supports the same anvil Mining Upgrades as a
pickaxe, provided the target tier is higher than its current tier.

6. BROKEN EQUIPMENT AND REPAIR

Blockforged equipment with finite durability stays as a broken item when
its durability reaches zero. Its own uses, equipment bonuses and enchantment
bonuses are disabled until repaired. A broken warning appears in the tooltip.

Repair the item at an anvil using a valid repair material or a compatible
same-item repair. The normal repair rules and level costs apply. Taking a
successfully repaired result restores usability; the repair retains the
item's other data, including its name, enchantments and Mining Upgrades.

You can still open an anvil or chest while holding a broken tool. The three
unbreakable endgame families do not normally reach this broken state.

7. DRAGONFORGED ABILITIES

Helmet: wear a usable Dragonforged Helmet and press N by default to toggle
night vision. The helmet remembers its setting. If N conflicts with another
mod, change the Blockforged key binding in Controls.

Boots: usable Dragonforged Boots prevent fall damage while worn.

Chestplate: first craft a Draconic Flight Core and use it in the Creative
Flight Module recipe. The core by itself does not grant flight.

To install flight, put a Dragonforged Chestplate in the left anvil slot and
one Creative Flight Module in the right slot. Installation costs 39 levels
and consumes the module. The resulting chestplate retains its name,
enchantments, durability and other components.

Wear the upgraded chestplate and double-tap Jump to start or stop creative
flight. No fuel is required. Removing the chestplate removes the flight it
grants. A module cannot be installed twice on the same chestplate.

These individual armor abilities do not require a full set. Full-set bonuses
have their own separate requirements.

8. ADVANCEMENTS

Open Advancements (L by default) and select Blockforged. The tree contains
20 nodes including its root. Drag the background to inspect branches outside
the window; Minecraft also reveals later nodes as you progress.

Crafting milestones require taking a crafted result. Anvil milestones
require taking the actual upgraded result, not just viewing the preview.
Full-set milestones require wearing all four usable matching pieces at once.
The first material-trait milestone is earned by holding a usable Blockforged
tool in your main hand or wearing a usable armor piece.

9. IF SOMETHING DOES NOT WORK

- No 3x3 mining: stop sneaking and check that the neighbors are breakable,
harvestable and allowed by the server's protection rules.
- No upgrade result: check the tool's current tier, the upgrade type, and
whether the equipment supports that operation.
- No armor upgrade: use a Smithing Table with the required template, matching
previous-tier armor piece and correct addition.
- No flight: install the module, take the result, wear that chestplate, and
  double-tap your configured Jump key.
- No equipment bonus: check for broken items, incorrect slots, missing set
  pieces and trait-specific conditions.
