CoK Decoy

Strike Freely, Learn Truly

A stationary training dummy for safely testing your gear - it takes real damage through the normal combat pipeline, but it never truly dies and it never fights back. Your own personal punching bag.

Placing & Removing

Right-click a block with a Decoy item to place one, like placing a block - it snaps to face you.

Sneak and hit it with an axe (any mod's axe counts) to break it back into an item. Every piece of gear it's wearing drops to the ground first, so nothing gets lost.

How Testing Works

Damage runs through the exact same pipeline a real fight would - armor, enchantments, and any mod's set or artifact damage mitigation all genuinely apply. Nothing here is faked or simplified, so what you see is exactly what you'd deal in a real fight.

A hit that would have killed it instead leaves it on 1 HP with a red "FATAL BLOW!" callout, so you can see exactly what would have finished it off. Landing a critical hit flashes its own gold "CRIT!" line.

Five seconds after the last hit lands, it fully resets on its own - health and every active potion effect clear, ready for the next test.

The Status Display

Toggle a floating readout above it showing, in order: any Fatal Blow or Crit flash, HP (with any Absorption shown alongside it), Armor, every active potion effect, and its name. All of it is pulled live, so any mod's buff or debuff on it shows up automatically - no guesswork about what's actually landing.

Customizing

Right-click it empty-handed to open its gear menu: 6 equipment slots (head/chest/legs/feet plus both hands), a visibility toggle for each armor piece that hides the render without touching the stats, a name field, and independent head/body rotation.

Shapes & Skins

Pick from 20 built-in body shapes in the same menu - most hostile mobs (Zombie, Husk, Drowned, Skeleton, Stray, Wither Skeleton, Piglin, and more), every villager profession, or plain Steve.

Shape GroupNotes
Steve (default)Full armor rendering
Hostile mobsZombie, Husk, Drowned, Skeleton, Stray, Wither Skeleton, Zombie Villager, Witch, Pillager, Vindicator, Piglin
VillagersPlain Villager plus all 14 professions

A few of the more exotic shapes can't visually render armor at all - Husk, Wither Skeleton, Zombie Villager, and the villager/witch/pillager/vindicator family - the stats still apply regardless, you just won't see the gear on them.

Drop your own player-skin PNG into config/cok_decoy/decoy_skins/ and it appears live in the picker, no restart needed - usable on the default humanoid shape. Make it your friend, your rival, or a total stranger - the dummy doesn't judge.
