JustWaves 0.7
=============

Waves for vanilla water. Nothing else.

Most wave shaders come welded to a full lighting overhaul, so if you want moving water
you also get new shadows, new fog, new colours and half your framerate. JustWaves only
replaces the program Minecraft uses to draw translucent blocks. Everything else — sky,
terrain, lighting, clouds, entities — falls through to Iris's defaults and looks exactly
like it does with shaders off.

INSTALL
  1. You need Iris. https://irisshaders.dev
  2. Put JustWaves.zip in .minecraft/shaderpacks — the ZIP FILE, do not extract it.
  3. Options -> Video Settings -> Shader Packs -> JustWaves.zip -> Apply

If you'd rather have it as a folder so you can edit it, that works too, but the outer
folder has to be named JustWaves, like this:
      shaderpacks/JustWaves/shaders/gbuffers_water.vsh
Extracting the zip straight into shaderpacks gives you a folder called "shaders",
which Iris reads as an empty pack and you get no waves at all.

WHAT IT DOES
Gerstner waves Sharp crests, wide flat troughs. Real water isn't a sine wave.
Surf on the beach White water at the shoreline, rolling in. Follows any coastline.
Turquoise shallows Water eats red light first, so shallows go turquoise and deep
water goes navy. It's the same sea, just more of it in the way.
Sand glow Light bouncing off pale sand back up through shallow water.
Sky reflection The water reflects the sky, strongest at grazing angles.
Fresnel Clear when you look down into it, mirror when you look across it.
Sun & moon glint Follows whichever is up.
Crest foam The tops break white, and more so in rain.
Storm response Waves build when it rains.
Lunar tides Slow rise and fall, bigger at full and new moon like the real thing.
Calm rivers Flowing water gets a fraction of the wave. Streams have no swell.
Underwater Light bands across the underside of the surface, and it turns
silver when you look along it. That's total internal reflection.

SETTINGS
Shader Pack Settings -> three pages: Waves, Surface, Tides.
LOW / MEDIUM / HIGH profiles if you'd rather not fiddle.

KNOWN LIMITS
  - The beach effects work off the depth buffer, so they need the sea floor to actually
be drawn. Water at the very edge of your render distance may lose its surf.
  - Water is still made of blocks. The wave is a displacement of the block surface, so
big heights or high Choppiness can pull the surface away from a steep shoreline and
show a gap. Turn those down if you see it.
  - Boats and mobs float at the flat vanilla water level. A shader only draws; it can't
move anything. If you want water that actually pushes your ship around, that's a
mod's job — try Sable Waves, which is built for exactly that and stacks with this.
  - ProtoManly's Weather doesn't work with Iris at all, so you can't run this with it.

Lighting, shadows and the rest may come later. Water first.
