What these "Alternate Textures" are, exactly:

These alternate textures may contain detail variations, color changes, experimental redesigns, and generally silly things. Some of the textures in the Alternates folder(s) may also end up being default, in future updates.

Some examples of the "Alternate Textures" are:

-Dirt without rocks.
-Lava with rocks.
-A different color/shade of Iron Ore.

And more!

How To Use Alternative Textures:

The alternate textures cannot be used while the texture pack is in .Zip format, so we have to extract it to a folder. Right click Alice.zip and click "Extract to Alice\".

Now you can start using alternate textures. The alternate textures are inside of labeled folders, inside of the ALTERNATE folder within Alice\; For an example, see below:

Alice\_Alternates\01 - Clean Dirt\texture.png*

*The textures inside of here that you want, (for example, if you only want mycelium to have smooth dirt, you would copy mycel_side.png) copy and paste the texture(s) into the locations listed below, depending on the version of Minecraft you are running.

If using Minecraft version 1.5 or above:

The texture files should be moved to the \textures\blocks\ folder. If it asks you to overwrite files here, say "Yes To All".

If using Minecraft version 1.4.7 or earlier:

Copy the texture(s) you want, and paste it onto their proper location(s) onto Alice\terrain.png, using an image editor that supports transparency, such as Paint.net, Gimp, or Photoshop.

Thank you for downloading Alice!
