Pre-generating your world will help a lot! While the world is pre-generating it will use as much CPU as it can get it's hands on. I recommend doing this before you plan to play on or let others on to the server as it will will make the game pretty much unplayable while it's running as it is generating all the chunks but you or the players on the server will not be loading new chunks all the time saving a lot of cpu while playing.

To preload your worlds:
§cUsing Cmds:
§6(1)§r Center world border. Stand where you would like the center of the world to be. §6Then type /worldborder center ~ ~

§6(2)§r Set a world boarder.
Type §6/worldboarder set <number of block radius>§r
§8(Usually I go with 4000 which gives me a 8k x 8k area to play with. This number can be much smaller too though especially if your just in single player.)

§6Overworld
§4Make sure you're standing in the overworld.
§6(3)§r Type §6/pregen gen startWorldBorder

§6Nether
§4Make sure you're standing in the nether.
Make a portal near where you centered the border (In the overworld). Enter The Nether. Then
§6(3)§r Type §6/pregen gen startradius square ~ ~ <number of chunks>
§7(What you did for world border / 16)

§6End
§4Make sure you're standing in the end.
Make a portal near where you centered the border (In the overworld). Enter The End. Then
§6(3)§r Type §6/pregen gen startradius square ~ ~ <number of chunks>
§7(What you did for world border / 16)

§6(4)§r Get a snack. This will take a little while. Progress is shown in the lower right of the screen.

§6(5)§r Once this has completed make sure to do a quick world restart to clean out all the cached gubs are cleared out then enjoy because not loading new chunks even in one dimension can really cut down on the stress that the server encounters while players are exploring.
