|Welcome to the challenge, wanderer. This tome will guide you through your progression to greatness. Rules are recommended for your own safety, but as this is your challenge you can choose to ignore them at your own risk.| |Stages represent your knowledge and ability level. Each stage will open up new and better materials, community building challenges, and tools. Some stages will require adventure and daring. Most will allow you to choose a path towards greatness for your city.|::1
|Before proceeding, please read Rules for All Stages. This will provide basic information that you will need for the entire challenge.| |As this is a work in progress, there will be frequent updates to add content. At this time, only the Dirt and Wood Stages are available. This content may change at any time. All in-game documentation can be accessed through the Enchiridion Library by pressing H and following the Library link in the top right corner.|::1

|===Dirt Rules===| |"Dirt" in this challenge refers to all dirt-type blocks: Sand, Clay, Dirt, Gravel, etc. For building purposes, you only know how to use Dirt and support it with raw-cut Logs.| |You may take any chest loot you find, but things like swords and minecarts are much too complex for you to understand yet. You may be educated enough to be literate, but your home was a simple, isolated farming village and technology was not so advanced there.|::1
|You have seen others using tools before, but you don't know how to use them. With the exception of the hoe (something all children were expected to use in your village), all tools are banned at this time. You don't want to hurt yourself, after all.| |In this stage, you may only use crafting recipes that are within your knowledge, luckily you took the time to list all of them in your diary.|::1
|Knowledge of things you can make out of natural materials in a 2x2 crafting grid is assumed and only listed if the materials are restricted (crafting table, sticks, etc.)| |Similarly, you must follow the current survival rules you wrote down in your diary. These paragraphs represent your full understanding of how to survive in this world, and you prefer not to die.|::1
|You may choose to dig a basement for your hovel. If you do, it may only go down 4 blocks to prevent destabilizing the dirt above. This must have at least one support regardless of size and the ceiling must be reinforced with a layer of logs below the dirt floor of your living space.| |Before advancing, complete all requirements and also at minimum 20 points of optional challenges. Points do not stack. Challenges are worth 1 point each unless value is stated.|::1

|===Wood Rules===| |All buildings must be constructed of either Wood or Dirt. Dirt still refers to all dirt-type blocks, Wood refers to any wooden block or slab such as planks and logs. Wooden dwellings do not need supports. Dirt roofs may not be higher than 3 blocks. Otherwise there are no height restrictions, buildings can grow to as many stories as you would like. Population refers to the total number of beds you have.|::1
|Farm plots refers to any planted edible crop unless otherwise specified and is equal to one food source. One fruit producing tree counts as one farm plot. Each livestock animal that gives food is considered one food source. Care must be taken when using such food sources to meet the minimum requirements of your population. In this case, if harvesting the animal requires killing it, then it must be replaced immediately through breeding.|::1
|In this stage, any mundane crafting recipe that only uses wood and natural materials is open to you. This means that any item that uses any sort of stone, gem or metal is not craftable. Natural materials include all mob drops and naturally occurring items/dirt type blocks found in the overworld. Shears are the only exception to this rule. You're desperately missing the shears you had at home, so if you are lucky enough to loot steel or iron ingots you must make shears with them. Other tools must all be wood or the equivalent mining level.|::1
|None of your newly arrived friends have any arcane knowledge, so all magical items are banned at this time.| |The Town Hall will be the seat of your government. You and all elders will need an office here, as will any diplomats from outlying cities you create or neighboring lands you might find. The town hall will need an item bank and a food bank to store any excess that the village produces beyond what you need to feed your people. Any equipment such as extra armor and weapons needed for reserve soldiers to|::1
