INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
Merge the provided "GameData" folder with the folder by
the same name in your KSP directory.

This mod requires ModuleManager, which is already bundled.
No further action required.

If you're updating from an earlier version, make sure you
delete the old "OrbitalSurveyPlus" folder completely before
installing the new version.

BACKGROUND:
When KSP 1.0 came out, I was as excited as ever, especially
for the addition of harvestable resources. However, like many
others that have played KSP religiously through alpha and beta,
the "magic button" orbital surveyor made my eye twitch and
gave me indigestion. Being a programmer, I decided
"it couldn't be that hard" to delve into modding and make
a few tweaks. Turns out my life was consumed by these
"tweaks", and this is the result.

WHAT THIS MOD DOES
This mod alters how the M700 Survey Scanner works. Instead
of the stock instant scan, the Survey Scanner now scans
portions of the planet it is orbiting while consuming
electric charge. The stock resource overlay will be shrouded
for areas that haven't been scanned. Resource scanning should
happen a lot more naturally and realistically. This mod also adds
the ability to toggle a biome overlay for planets you have scanned.

HOW IT WORKS
- Deploying the M700 Survey Scanner now activates a progressive
scan that reveals portions of the planet progressively. It will
consume electric charge while it is scanning. The altitude parameters
match the stock parameters for the M700 orbital survey, but you are
free to scan in whatever inclination you want.

- Survey Scanners will continue to work in the background when ships
are not loaded. No need to stick around and wait for planets to
get scanned.

- As soon as any region has been scanned, the stock resource overlay
and an added biome overlay are unlocked. These overlays are shrouded
for regions that haven't been scanned yet.

- The narrow band scanner will be useable as soon as any region has
been scanned. This means it will not work at all for any planet
that hasn't been surveyed at all, but it will work even in shrouded
areas for planets that have been partially scanned.

OTHER OPTIONS

- "Extended Orbital Survey" : This basically enables the mod. If this
is unchecked, the M700 will revert to stock functionality, and overlays
(both resource and biome map) will always be all or nothing.

- "Biome Map Requires Scan" : If this is enabled, the biome map will
not be available for planets that have not been scanned. Disabling this
will allow you to view the full biome map on any planet regardless of
scan status.

- "Time Between Background Scans (sec)" : When extended orbital survey
is enabled, scans continue to happen in the background for unloaded ships.
This parameter determines how many seconds the system waits between updates.

- A "settings" config file will be generated the first time you run the game.
This file contains the previous three settings, plus a few more regarding
altitude parameters. The module config file for the Orbital Survey Plus module
also contains electric drain and scan radius parameters which are tweakable.
